For ex JWs, PIMOs, POMOs, faders, born again Christians, agnostics, atheists, etc. what is your opinion regarding sex before marriage, has your view been influenced since you left? In Western society, you’ll probably find yourself ridiculed to be an 18 year old virgin so I am curious to hear opinions from here

Has the Governing Body ever been right?
by Jules Saturn ini asked this question to a relative after mentioning several situations where teachings were changed or readjusted (new light) and they have two reasons.
yes, they are correct because look at how the preaching work has grown through the decades and the advancements in witnessing and the second reason was the doctrine of the trinity and how the society opposes that.
i didn’t really have a response, especially for the trinity doctrine.. does the governing body have the rejection of the trinity belief correct?.

In regards to the point of the preaching work growing or having success I was going to point to the growth the witnesses have had in recent years in comparison to decades ago and also how the preaching work is still under ban in several countries. The trinity issue is a hard one to comment on

Detroit the movie on Netflix anybody seen it ?
by smiddy3 ina movie about the riots in the seventies in the city of detroit but especially with the reason for the riots and the attitude of police and how the nation treated people of colour.
and how they treated them and how the justice system failed them .. based on a true story.
i found it very confronting yet compelling to watch.. humans have a tendency to lump everybody together in the same basket ,however we are not all the same, their is good and bad in every race and culture whether they are black, white or brindle .. anybody seen it and like to comment ?.

Saw it last night, I thought it was pretty good, I do think that some scenes were really long and really dragged but I’m guessing that was done intentionally to get an idea on how long it must have felt to stand up facing the wall and being questioned and abused.

Are you better off as a worldly person or a JW?
by Jules Saturn ini was having a conversation with a relative who has been inactive for several decades (part of the ‘75 generation) and he argued that a person that is a born in is better off staying in the organization rather than someone like him who lived as a “worldly” person but then became a witness later in life.
he argues that when you’re born in, all you know nothing outside of the organization, so you’re better off in than out, that’s why when born ins leave the org, they always come back.
i agree that as a born in, your social circle is composed of witnesses but i do feel that even born ins would be happier outside of the org than being in.

Again my inactive relative argues that they are genuinely “happy” but they are conditioned to believe that they are happy. Thoughts?

What is attractive?
by Freedom rocks inhas anyone found that since leaving the borg that their tastes have changed in what they find attractive in the opposite sex?
beards, long hair, tattoo's, etc).
i don't now if it's just my taste changing as i get older or if it's coz beards were frowned upon by the society that i find them attractive now and didn't when i was younger 😊.

Interesting you say this, I think honestly my perception of people has changed to what atttacts me physically and mentally to a person whether they’re in the org or not. I find myself more inclined to engage to people who think freely and critically on certain viewpoints instead of following something just because it makes you feel good. In regards to physical appearance, in my case I used to frown upon girls that had belly piercings. Tbh I still frown upon certain tattoos, especially if the person has their entire body covered with them but that’s just my opinion. If they have a small one that’s in a decent spot then I don’t really care but if it’s on your arm and it’s a character from your favorite tv show then I’m just gonna look the other way. Just my opinion.

Cult Leader Thinks He’s Jesus
by Jules Saturn ini was sent this video and don’t know if anyone was aware of it or if this has been posted before but in russia there is a religion known as vissarion’s church of the last testament where their leader who was formerly known as sergey anatolyevitch torop who goes by vissarion believes he is the messiah.
according to the video, there are 5,000 followers worldwide with 2,000 followers actually living on site with vissarion.
i found it pretty odd but very interesting and wanted to share it on here.

@Wasanelder Once
I think one of the things that intrigued me of the video was honestly how tranquil the location looked. Of course they wouldn’t want to leave it, it looked so peaceful and quiet, exactly like the Paradise Watchtower describes.
